When introducing a new pet food, it is recommended to do so gradually over a period of about 7 days to allow your pet’s digestive system to adjust. You may start by:
- Mixing approximately 25% of the new food with 75% of the current food for the first 2–3 days.
- Thereafter, increase the proportion to a 50:50 mix for the next few days, before moving to 75% new food and 25% current food.
- By day 7, you may fully switch to the new food.
This gradual transition helps to minimise the risk of digestive upset such as vomiting or diarrhoea. For pets with more sensitive stomachs, a slower transition may be considered.
